FEMUSINDO.com - Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, known professionally as Katy Perry, was born in Santa Barbara, California, USA, on October 25, 1984.
Katy Perry is an American singer, songwriter and television judge.

Perry was signed to Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson, which is her real name, in 2001, but it was commercially unsuccessful.

She moved to Los Angeles the following year to pursue a career in secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and later worked with producers such as Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

Recording Contract

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

Her third album, Teenage Dream (2010), was a mix of disco, and was her first album to top the US Billboard 200.

The album topped the US Billboard Hot 100 with the singles "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T.", and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "The One That Got Away" peaked at number 3 on the chart.

Chart Toppers

The album became the first by a female artist to produce five number-one songs in the US, and the second overall after Michael Jackson's Bad.

Her fourth album, Prism (2013), was her second US chart-topper, and her fifth album, Witness (2017) became her third US number-one album.

Perry has received numerous awards, including four Guinness World Records, five American Music Awards, a Brit Award, and a Juno Award.

Katy Perry was included in Forbes' annual list of the highest-paid women in music from 2011–2018.

In 2016, her net worth was estimated at $125 million. She is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Album Sales

She is recorded to have sold more than 40 million albums and more than 100 million records globally during her career.

Meanwhile, in the film industry, she released an autobiographical documentary titled Katy Perry: Part of Me in 2012.

Not only that, she voiced the character of Smurfette in the 2011 film The Smurfs and its sequel in 2013. Perry also began judging on American Idol in 2018. (*)
