FEMUSINDO.com - Kotak is a rock music group formed from The Dream Band event on September 27, 2004.
Currently, Kotak consists of Tantri (Tantri Syalindri Ichlasari), Chua (Swasti Sabdastantri) and Cella (Mario Marcella).
The Kotak band was formed by one of Kahitna's personnel, Doddy, who acted as producer.
At that time, Doddy held auditions to form a new band format in Indonesia consisting of a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and vocalist.
Regarding the name, the name Kotak means four sides and four corners that come together to form a box building.
It describes four different people but united in one musical container. They released their first single entitled "Sendiri" on The Dream Band's album "Delapan".
First Album Release
After winning The Dream Band 2004, they then released their first album titled Kotak under the label HMR.
Their debut songs on the album include "Hilang", "Terbang (Khayal)", "Kau Pilih Dia", "Damai Hati" and "Saat Kau Jauh".
In 2008, Kotak launched their second album titled Kotak Kedua and on August 26, 2010, they released their third album titled Energi.

The third album spawned hits singles such as "Pelan Pelan Saja", "Selalu Cinta" and "Cinta Jangan Pergi".
On August 11, 2011, the album Energi was re-released as Energi (Repackaged) with four new songs, all of which are mega hits.
Compilation Album
In November 2012, Kotak launched a best compilation album titled Terbaik. This album is only sold at KFC outlets throughout Indonesia.
In March 2014, Kotak released their fourth album titled "Never Dies". The latest Kotak album contains many mainstay songs.
Kikan's entry into Kotak changed the name of the band to Kikan X Kotak and marked the release of the band's new song, Long Live Rock N Roll.
Winning Awards
In 2020, Kotak released an album after a long absence, containing the first single, "HOAX".
The single "HOAX" collaborated with KOMPAS Media to fight hoaxes, "Manusia Manusiawi (feat. Cak Nun)", and "Teman Palsu" which was released in September 2020.
Not only in terms of sales, this band has also won various trophies at various music award events.
At the 12th Indonesian Music Awards, they won an award for the Best Solo/Duo/Rock Group category. Their album Kotak Kedua also won an award for the Best Rock Album category.
Not only that, Kotak also successfully won the Best Newcomer Group/Duo category from the 2009 Anugerah Planet Musik (APM) version.
Then, at the MTV Indonesia Awards, Kotak was named Most Favorite Breakthrough Artist 2009. (*)
