Spotify Popular Music and Podcast Streaming Service Today



FEMUSINDO.com - Spotify is a music and podcast streaming service that is currently popular and widely used by people to listen to music and podcasts.

A podcast is news, music, and so on that is made in digital format (both audio and video) that is downloaded via the internet.

Spotify was developed in 2006 by the team at Spotify AB, in Stockholm, Sweden, and launched on October 7, 2008.

Spotify AB, a public company on the New York Stock Exchange since 2018 under the Luxembourg-based Spotify Technology S.A. company.

The company was founded by Daniel Ek, former CTO of Stardoll, and Martin Lorentzon, co-founder of TradeDoubler.

The name Spotify comes from Martin Lorentzon and Daniel Ek when determining the name by shouting out potential words at random.

Then, Daniel Ek misheard "Spotify", then they claimed the etymology of "Spotify" came from the combination of the words "spot" and "identify".

Spotify Ltd operates as the parent company, headquartered in London, while Spotify AB handles research and development in Stockholm.

The platform generates revenue by selling premium streaming subscriptions to users and ad placements to third parties. Some of the premium options that users can choose from include individual, duo, family, and student.

In Indonesia, Spotify was officially launched on March 30, 2016, which means that its software has supported the Indonesian language option, and has allowed it to accept premium subscribers from Indonesian customers.

In May 2021, Spotify first launched the EQUAL campaign in Indonesia as a form of support for gender equality in the music industry. (*)
