FEMUSINDO.com - Podcasts may have only just been heard in Indonesia, but they have long been known in the world. In 2004, The Guardian called it an “audible revolution”.
A podcast, podsiar, or non-streaming webcast is a series of digital media files that are published at any time and can be downloaded through web syndication.
The word ‘podcast’ has replaced the term ‘webcast’ in everyday language, due to the increasing popularity of iPods and web feeds.
The purpose of a podcast is to provide information or knowledge about a particular topic to the audience.
Meanwhile, the types of podcasts include Interview Podcasts, Story Podcasts, Educational Podcasts, Entertainment Podcasts and News Podcasts.
Podcast in KBBI
In the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), Podcast means broadcasts that can be news, music, and so on that are made in digital format, either audio or video, and downloaded via the internet.
The method of delivering podcasts is different from other methods such as direct downloading or web streaming to obtain media files via the internet.
A list of all audio or video files related to a particular series is centrally maintained on the distributor's server as a web feed.
Use a Podcast Downloader
Listeners or viewers use podcast downloaders (podcatchers) to get web feeds, check for the latest updates, and download new files in the series.
These methods can be set to run independently so that new files can be downloaded by themselves. The files are stored on the user's computer or other device.
This storage can be used offline to provide easy and convenient access to content that is published at any time. Common audio file types used by podcasts include Ogg Vorbis and MP3. (*)
