FEMUSINDO.com - Formed by Bimbim on December 26, 1983, Slank is a very famous Rock music group in Indonesia.

When it was founded, this group consisted of five original members consisting of Bimbim (drums), Denny BDN (bass), Erwan (lead vocals), Kiki (lead guitar) and Bongky (rhythm guitar).

Because they were tired of being a cover band (a band that sings songs from other singers or bands), Slank then had the desire to create and perform their own songs.

Their music is generally in the rock, blues, hard rock, glam metal, alternative rock, pop rock, even rock and roll genres, most of the songs were written by the drummer, Bimbim.

Highest Paid Music Stars

Reporting from Wikipedia, Slank is one of the influential music groups in Indonesia. In 2008 and 2009, Slank was named Indonesia's Highest-Paid Music Star with an honorarium of Rp500 million per show.

This group achieved success throughout the 1990s with the formation of 13 Bongky, Pay and Indra and the 2000s with the formation of 14 Ivanka, Abdee and Ridho.

Slank experienced up to 14 personnel changes. Popular personnel changes include the personnel changes called "formation 13" (because it was the 13th change).

Giving Birth to Hit Songs

Bimbim played drums, Bongky played bass, Indra played keyboard and piano, Pay played lead guitar and Kaka played lead vocals, this formation lasted until 1996.

Slank released five studio albums with Bongky, Indra and Pay with a formation of 13, namely Suit-Suit... He-He (Gadis Sexy) (1990), Kampungan (1991), Piss! (1993), Generasi Biru (1994) and Minoritas (1996).

They also gave birth to hit songs, such as "Memang", " Maafkan", "Mawar Merah", "Terlalu Manis" (Jualan dan Suka2), "Anyer 10 Maret", "Kamu Harus Pulang", "Terbunuh Sepi", "Bang-Bang Tut", and "Jika Kau Ingin Jadi Pacarku".

Personnel Changes

In the midst of its success, internal conflicts occurred within Slank which led to the departure of Bongky, Pay and Indra from the group in 1996.

After Bongky, Pay and Indra were replaced by Ivanka, Abdee and Ridho in 1997, Slank's career called this personnel change "formation 14".

Formation 14 consists of five permanent personnel, namely Bimbim (drums), Kaka (lead vocals), Ivanka (bass), Abdee (lead guitar) and Ridho (rhythm guitar, keyboard, piano) which has survived until now.

Slank with Ivanka, Abdee and Ridho with this formation of 14 actually skyrocketed with the release of the album Tujuh (1998) and Mata Hati Reformasi (1998), each of which sold more than one million copies.

Ivanka, Abdee and Ridho recorded 16 other full albums. During this time, after the departure of three of its personnel, Slank released their sixth studio album, Lagi Sedih (1997). (*)
