Nick Cave Legendary Australian Musician, Writer and Actor

FEMUSINDO.com - Nicholas Edward Cave; born Nicholas Edward Cave, with his famous name Nick Cave, is a legendary Australian musician, writer and actor.

The legendary singer born in Warracknabeal, Victoria, September 22, 1957 is known for his baritone voice and as the lead vocalist of the rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Cave's music is characterized by emotional intensity, a variety of influences, and lyrical obsession with death, religion, love and violence.

Studied Art, Became a Vocalist and Appeared in Films

Born and raised in rural Victoria, Cave studied art in Melbourne before becoming the vocalist of Birthday Party, one of the city's leading post-punk bands in the late 1970s.

In 1980, the band moved to London, England. Disappointed with their stay there, they evolved and gained a reputation as the loudest live band in the world.

The band split up soon after moving to West Berlin in 1982. The following year, Cave formed Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, which has since been described as one of rock’s most enduring and resilient bands.
In 1988, he appeared in Ghosts… of the Civil Dead, an Australian prison film he co-wrote.

Inducted into ARIA Hall of Fame

In the 1990s, Cave moved between São Paulo and the UK, finding inspiration in the New Testament.

In 2007, he was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and in 2017 was made an Officer of the Order of Australia.

Since 2018, Cave has run The Red Hand Files, a newsletter through which he responds to fan inquiries.

He has collaborated with the likes of Johnny Cash, Shane MacGowan of the Pogues and his former bandmate PJ Harvey.

His songs have been covered by a variety of artists, including Cash ("The Mercy Seat"), Metallica ("Loverman"), Pearl Jam ("The Ship Song"), and Snoop Dogg ("Red Right Hand"). (*)
