Differences Between Record of The Year, Song of The Year and Album of The Year

FEMUSINDO.com - Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year are three of the four "General Field" categories at the Grammy Awards.

In addition to Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year, another general category award is Best New Artist

Here are the differences between Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

Record of the Year is awarded for a single or one track from an album. This award is given to the performing artist, producer, recording engineer and/or mixer for the song.

In this sense, the "recording" referred to means a particular recorded song, not its composition or album of songs.

Song of the Year is also awarded for one song or one song only, but the recipient of this award is the songwriter who actually wrote the lyrics and/or melody of the song.

For "Song" in this context, it means the song itself, not the recording.

Album of the Year is awarded for the entire album, and awards are given to the artist, songwriters, producers, recording engineers, and mastering for the album.

In this context, "album" means a recorded collection of songs (LP, CD, or multi-track download package), not individual songs or compositions. (*)
