FEMUSINDO.com - Jonathan Michael Batiste, better known as Jon Batiste, is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, composer and television personality.

Jon Batiste, who was born in Metairie, Louisiana, on November 11, 1986, has recorded and performed with artists including Stevie Wonder, Prince and Willie Nelson.

He has also performed with Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey, Roy Hargrove, Juvenile, Lenny Kravitz, ASAP Rocky and Mavis Staples.

From 2015 to 2022, Batiste performed nightly with his band, Stay Human, as bandleader and musical director on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

In addition to singing and writing songs, he also serves as the musical director of The Atlantic and the Creative Director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.

Composing Music and Appearing in Film

In 2020, he co-composed the music for the Pixar animated film Soul, for which he received an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Grammy Award, and a BAFTA Film Award.

Batiste has collected five Grammy Awards from 20 nominations, including a win for Album of the Year for We Are (2021).

In 2023, Batiste appeared in the documentary, American Symphony , which chronicled Batiste's process of composing his first symphony.

In 2024, Batiste appeared in the ensemble comedy-drama Saturday Night, directed by Jason Reitman, playing the role of musician Billy Preston, as well as composing the film's score. (*)
