Amy Winehouse Singer and Songwriter from England

FEMUSINDO.com - Amy Jade Winehouse, with her famous name Amy Winehouse, was born in Southgate, London, England, September 14, 1983 and died in London, England, July 23, 2011.

She was a singer and songwriter who started her first album, Frank (2003) which was nominated for the Mercury Prize.

At the age of only 10, Winehouse founded the rap duo Sweet 'n' Sour. She learned guitar at the age of 13.

Starting to Sing Professionally

When she was 16, she started singing professionally after her friend, Tyler James, gave her demo tape to an A&R.

Once her demo tape was accepted, she was then signed by Island/Universal, under the management of Simon Fuller's 19 Management.

Winehouse won the Ivor Novello Awards twice: first in 2004 for her debut single "Stronger than Me" and second in 2007 for the single "Rehab".

On February 14, 2007, the soul, R&B, jazz and funk singer won the BRIT Award for Best British Female Artist.

The talented singer died young. Amy Winehouse died at her home in London on July 23, 2011 at the age of 27. (*)
