Founder of The Beatles, Here's Another Side of John Lennon

John Winston Ono Lennon or better known as John Lennon, is the eldest son of Julia Stanley and Alfred Lennon.

This British singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, writer and political activist was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool.

The New York Times dubbed him the "four-eyed guitarist" because he wore glasses. Meanwhile, Lennon nicknamed himself "bird chest".

In his marriage, Lennon is known to have married twice, namely to Cynthia Powell in 1962 and Japanese artist, Yoko Ono in 1969.

From his first and second marriages, he had two children, Julian Lennon who was born in 1963 and Sean Taro Ono Lennon who was born in 1975.

During his career in music, John Lennon performed and created many songs that later became hits. He actively sang between 1956-1980.

One of his hits that is still very famous today is Imagine, a song that later became one of the world's peace hymns.

John Lennon has won seven Grammy Awards, including two Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Then, he also received five BRIT Awards, including two Special Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music, 21 NME Awards, 15 Ivor Novello and an Oscar (Academy Award).

His popularity as a singer is also used for his activities as a peace activist, artist and writer.

John Lennon died on December 8, 1980 at the age of 40. He was shot four times by Mark David Chapman outside his apartment in New York City.

Mark David Chapman, his killer, was a fan who was unhappy with the political and religious views held by the music legend.(*)
