Lingsir Wengi Song Has Mystical Nuances? Here Are The Lyrics and Meanings Along with Expert Comments

FEMUSINDO.com - The song "Lingsir Wengi" has mystical nuances with lyrics that are said to be scary and is said to be the work of Sunan Kalijaga. This is related to the use of the song in the cinema film 'Kuntilanak'.

The song or song entitled Lingsir Wengi is a song whose lyrics are entirely in Javanese, one of the regional languages in Indonesia. The song Lingsir Wengi is more like being sung like a traditional Javanese song of the macapat type.

In addition to its different lyrics and meaning, the way of singing the horror version of the Lingsir Wengi song is not like today's songs. The meaning of the song Lingsir Wengi can be interpreted or related to the depiction of black magic.

The lyrics also seem to mix the new Javanese language with the Kawi Javanese language used in puppetry suluks and contain special messages from its creator.

According to the story that is developing in society, especially in Java, this song is a ritual to summon ghosts. The ghost in question is a female ghost, or what is commonly called a kuntilanak.

The question is, is it true that the supposedly mystical Lingsir Wengi song was indeed created by Sunan Kalijaga?

According to a Karawitan lecturer at the Indonesian Arts Institute (ISI) Solo, Danis Sugiyanto, as reported by Detik.com, from the lyrics the song is certainly different from the diction in Sunan Kalijaga's poems.

"The words used in the lyrics do not seem to be from the time of Sunan Kalijaga," said Danis.

Danis added that if you look at the content, it is difficult to imagine that Sunan Kalijaga, a saint, created a narrative with such a purpose. "However, to be sure, more detailed research is needed on the song," he said.
