FEMUSINDO.com - James Joseph Brown, Jr., with his famous name James Brown, was born in Barnwell, South Carolina, United States (US), on May 3, 1933.
He is an entertainer (singer and musician) from Uncle Sam's country who is recognized as an influential figure in popular music of the 20th century.
Brown is nicknamed "The Godfather of Soul", also known as "Soul Brother Number One" and "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business".
He still continues to perform, at least in 100 shows per year. He also performed at the 2005 Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center.

James Brown's death inspired the Indonesian music group, Funky Kopral. So the band created a song that was released in 2010 with the title Soul Brother Number One.
Throughout his career, Brown has received a number of awards. Among them are two Grammy Awards, the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992 and the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in December 2003. (*)
