FEMUSINDO.com - The Academy Awards or also called the Oscars are American film awards to appreciate works in the film industry.
Well, among the many winners of the Academy Awards or Oscars, it turns out that many of them are also singers, songwriters and musicians.
Various categories of winners are awarded a copy of the statuette by the Academy Award of Merit, better known as the Oscars.
The First Time the Academy Awards Were Held
This award was first held in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and was supervised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
This awards ceremony was first televised in 1953, and until now it has been broadcast live in more than 200 countries.
The Oscars are the oldest awards ceremony; besides that there is also the Emmy Award for television program awards.
Then, the Tony Award for theater awards, and the Grammy Award for awards in the music industry, which are held after the Academy Awards.
The Academy Awards
Historically, this award is given three months after the new year, to honor achievements and works in the film industry in the previous year.
For example, 12 Years a Slave was awarded Best Picture in 2013, even though the Oscars were held in 2014.
The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony was held on February 9, 2020. As with previous years' celebrations, there was no host at this ceremony.
Thousands of Oscars Have Been Awarded
The ceremony was broadcast by ABC and took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, for the 18th consecutive time.
This ceremony marked the first time in Oscar history that more than three films had received ten or more nominations.
A total of 3,140 Oscars have been awarded since the awards were first held in 1929. (*)
