Alison Maria Krauss was born in Decatur, Illinois, United States, July 23, 1971, and entered the music industry at a young age.
At that time, she competed in a local contest at the age of eight and made her first recording at the age of 14.
Recording Contract and Appearance on Several Soundtracks
In 1985, Alison Krauss signed a contract with Rounder Records and released her first solo album in 1987.

As of 2019, she has won 27 Grammy Awards from 42 nominations, placing her fourth behind Beyoncé, Quincy Jones and classical conductor Georg Solti for most Grammy Award wins overall.
Krauss is the most awarded female singer and artist in Grammy history, until Beyoncé won her 28th Grammy in 2021.
When Krauss won her first Grammy in 1991, she was the second-youngest winner at the time.
On November 21, 2019, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts. In September 2021, she was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. (*)
