Neil Diamond Legendary American Singer-Songwriter, Best-Selling Musician of All Time

The singer-songwriter was born in New York City on January 24, 1941, and has written and recorded ten singles that reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts.

He has sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Singer-Songwriter and Acting in Films

In addition to being a singer-songwriter, Neil Diamond has also acted in films, making his big-screen debut in the 1980 musical drama film The Jazz Singer.

In 2000, Neil Diamond appeared on stage with Diamond's tribute band, Super Diamond, surprising them before their show at the House of Blues in Los Angeles.

In the 2001 comedy film Saving Silverman, the main character plays in a Diamond cover band. He made a brief appearance as himself.

Diamond even wrote and composed a new song, "I Believe in Happy Endings," for the film. He performed with the tribute band Super Diamond at the film's premiere party.

Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame

Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, and received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000.

In 2011, he was an inductee at the Kennedy Center Honors and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.

In February 2022, Universal Music Group acquired Diamond's songwriting catalog and the rights to his Bang Records, Columbia Records and Capitol recordings.

The acquisition also includes 110 of Diamond's unreleased songs, unreleased albums and archival videos. (*)
