FEMUSINDO.com - Established on June 25, 1996 and still active in Indonesian music, Cokelat is the name of a rock music group from Bandung, West Java Province (Jabar).
This music group with a female vocalist chose the name "Chocolate" because they want the music they present to be enjoyed by all groups, just like chocolate food.
During its career, Cokelat has experienced several personnel changes. Initially there were Kikan, Ronny, Robert, Bernard, and Deden.
Personnel Changes
After the release of the compilation album Indie Ten (1998), Ervin replaced Deden. Then, Edwin replaced Bernard during the era of making the first album in 1999, the album Untuk Bintang (2000) and the release of Robert before the album Rasa Baru (2001).
In 2006, Cokelat launched its seventh album, where in this seventh album Cokelat provided 10 mandatory Indonesian national songs that were rearranged to make them fresher.
After the first vocalist Kikan parted ways with Cokelat, on December 19, 2011, Cokelat announced its new personnel, Sarah Hadju (2011–2020).
Vocalist Sarah Hadju left and was replaced by Jackline Rossy. In April 2014, Ernest resigned to pursue a career outside of music and Otto resigned to quit the music world.
Filling Personnel and Vocalist Positions
After more than 4 years, Cokelat finally recruited Axel Andaviar to rejoin to fill the vacancy in the drum position until now and marked the return of the guitar playing duo of brothers Edwin and Ernest.
On November 29, 2020, Cokelat announced through their official YouTube channel live, that Ayu Ratna (ex Garasi) officially joined as a singer.
Many comments from the 'Bintang Cokelat' (the name for fans) that this is Cokelat's best formation after the formation with Kikan & Ervin.
Kikan and Ervin Comeback
After 12 years apart, precisely on Independence Day on August 17, 2022, Kikan (vocalist) & Ervin (drums) rejoined and strengthened the band Cokelat. Through official social media, they uploaded a video clip of Kikan & Ervin's Comeback.
In their career, Coklat has released six full albums as a marker of their long career in the Indonesian popular music scene.
The seven albums are, namely Untuk Bintang (2000), Rasa Baru (2001), Segitiga (2003), Dari Hati (2004), Untukmu Indonesiaku (2006), Tak Pernah Padam (The Best of) (2006), and Panca Indera (2008). (*)
