Bimbo Sibling Music Group, The Greatest Indonesian Artists of All Time

FEMUSINDO.com - Bimbo is a music group from Bandung, West Java, founded around 1966 by 3 brothers.

The three brothers are Muhammad Syamsudin Dajat Hardjakusumah (Sam), Darmawan Dajat Hardjakusumah (Acil) and Jaka Purnama Dajat Hardjakusumah (Jaka).

Muhammad Syamsudin Dajat Hardjakusumah or Sam Bimbo (born May 6, 1942), Darmawan Dajat Hardjakusumah or Acil Bimbo (born August 20, 1943), and Jaka Purnama Dajat Hardjakusumah or Jaka Bimbo (born May 1, 1946).

In its development, this sibling music group was joined by their younger sister Iin Parlina (born November 1, 1952).

Siblings Who Love to Sing

They were born in the Flower City, Bandung, the children of Raden Dajat Hardjakusumah (1916-1968) and Oeken Kenran (1921-1999).

Sjam, the eldest child, loved to sing since he was little. This was followed by his younger siblings who also liked to sing along.

In the mid-1950s, Sjam (later the spelling was changed to Syam or Sam) and Atjil (later the spelling was changed to Acil) were admirers of Sam Saimun, a famous Indonesian singer at that time.

Bimbo, Meaning: It's Good!

Towards the end of the 1950s, Elvis Presley's songs began to enter Indonesia. Those who were still teenagers at that time were also contaminated.

The name Bimbo itself was given by Hamid Gruno, Director of TVRI. Starting in 1966, when it appeared on TVRI, the band did not yet have a name. By Hamid Gruno, they were told to just use the name Bimbo, which means: It's good!

Since then, they have always identified themselves with "Good". Since then, they have used the name Trio Los Bimbos which still has a Latin feel.

Later, they changed the name Trio Los Bimbos to Trio Bimbo to give a more local impression.

The Greatest Indonesian Artists of All Time

Bimbo is a music group that has a long and legendary journey. For more than 40 years of work, they have produced around 800 songs in 200 albums.
