Topping the Charts
In late 2014, Jay Chou completed the album Aiyo, Not Bad. The album topped the QQ Music, KuGou, and NetEase apps, as well as the album sales charts in Singapore, Malaysia and Macau.
The album's huge success managed to penetrate the music album sales list in the United States, bringing the album to position #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart.
The album also made Jay Chou the first mandopop singer to reach that position and made history as a Mandarin-language music album that penetrated the global music album sales chart.
His success, by the Financial Times gave him the nickname as "The Most Successful Mandarin Male Solo Singer".
Debut in Acting
In 2005, Jay made his acting debut through the film Initial D, a popular manga series in Japan that was adapted for the big screen.
There, he played the main character, Takumi Fujiwara. In the film, Jay was able to show his extraordinary acting talent.
Finally, Jay won the award for best newcomer at the 42nd Golden Horse Award for his role in Initial D.
Starring and Directing Films
Consecutively, Jay began to appear on the big screen, namely in the colossal film Curse of Golden Flower with Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li which was released in 2006.
