FEMUSINDO.com - Scorpions is a legendary hard rock band from Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany, formed in 1965.
The band was originally fronted by Rudolf Schenker (rhythm guitar/vocals), Karl-Heinz Vollmer (lead guitar), Lothar Heimberg (bass) and Wolfgang Dziony (drums).
Their most well-known songs include Rock You Like a Hurricane, Winds of Change and Still Loving You.
Recording Singles and Becoming Movie Soundtracks
In 1972, Scorpions recorded Lonesome Crow which became the soundtrack for a German film Das Kalte Paradies.
Between 1974-1977, Scorpions released 4 consecutive albums with RCA Records, namely Fly to The Rainbow (1974), In Trance (1975), Virgin Killer (1976), and Taken by Force (1977).
Tokyo Tapes is a double live album they recorded in Tokyo with Roth released in 1978 and the album Blackout was released in 1982.
The Blackout album achieved worldwide success. In the United States alone, this album sold more than one million copies.
Release of the Love at First Sting Album
Their success continued with the release of the Love at First Sting album in 1984, this album popularized the song Rock You Like a Hurricane which later produced double platinum.
Their tenth album Savage Amusement was released in 1988, and they again achieved success with the song Rhythm of Love.
In 1990, the album Crazy World was released and became their most successful album in history, and this album popularized the song Winds of Change. The album Crazy World became their last album to achieve success.
In 1993 they released Face The Heat which went gold. Then, in 1995, they released the live album Live Bites.
Immortalized at Hollywood's Rock Walk
In 1997, Mercury Records released the best double album Scorpions Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years.
Continuing in 1999, their experimental album with a melodic pop-techno style Eye II Eye was released in the summer.
The album Moment of Glory featuring the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and several rearrangements of old Scorpions songs was released in the fall of 2000.
The album Sting in the Tail released on March 23, 2010 was the Scorpions' final album, which they announced on January 24, 2010.
On April 6, 2010, the Scorpions were immortalized on Hollywood's Rock Walk in a handprint ceremony, with the band members placing their hands on the length of a wet cement slab. (*)
