Songwriter from Palembang
According to Wikipedia.org, Abdullah Totong Mahmud or better known as A.T. Mahmud is a songwriter from Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. He is widely known by the public through his children's songs.
Abdullah Totong Mahmud was born in Palembang City, February 3, 1930 and died in Jakarta, July 6, 2010 at the age of 80 years.
Mahmud is the fifth child of ten siblings. His mother's name is Masayu Aisyah, his father's name is Masagus Mahmud. He was given the name Abdullah and is usually called "Dola" by both of his parents.
The name given by his parents is recorded on the diploma he has at the Sjoeritsoe Mizoeho Gakoe-en school (Japanese school) in 1945. On the diploma his full name is written: "Masagus Abdu'llah Mahmoed".
A.T. Mahmud had studied at Hollandsch-Inlandsche School / SD (1944), SMU Bagian Pertama / SMP (1950), Sekolah Guru Bagian A / SGA (1953), English FKIP (1959) and Sarjana Muda / Diploma (1964).
Receiving Awards for His Work
For his works, A.T. Mahmud received the Art Prize Charter by Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia through the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia - October 11, 1999.
Then, the Art Education Award by the Rector of the Jakarta State University - June 27, 2003 (39th Anniversary of the Jakarta State University).
He also received the Bintang Budaya Parama Dharma Honorary Medal from President Megawati Soekarnoputri - August 14, 2003.
In the same year, 2003, A.T. Mahmud received the Anugrah Musik Indonesia award in the Lifetime Award category.
On July 30, 2018, he received the 2018 Child-Friendly Broadcasting Award in the Legendary Children's Song Creator category (Special Award) by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission. (*)
