FEMUSINDO.com - Elena Jane Goulding, better known as Ellie Goulding, is an English singer and songwriter.
The career of the singer born in Hereford, England, December 30, 1986, began when she met a record producer named Starsmith and Frankmusik. Then, she was discovered by Jamie Lillywhite, who later became her manager and A&R.
After signing a contract with Polydor Records in July 2009, Goulding released her debut extended play, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, later that year.
Won the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards
In 2010, Ellie Goulding became the second artist to top the BBC's annual Sound Of... poll and won the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards that same year.
Goulding released her debut studio album, Light, in 2010. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK.
In November 2010, the album was re-released as Bright Lights, which spawned two singles.
The first single, a cover of Elton John's "Your Song" which was featured in John Lewis' first Christmas advert, reached number two on the UK Singles Chart,
The second single, "Lights", which became Goulding's highest-charting song on the US Billboard Hot 100, reached number two.
Chart Peak on the UK Albums Chart
Ellie Goulding's second album, Halcyon, was released in October 2012. "Anything Could Happen" served as the album's lead single.
Halcyon debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and after 65 weeks, reached number one. Halcyon debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Halcyon Days, a new edition of Halcyon, was released on 23 August 2013, including the new single "Burn", which became her first UK number one single.
At the 2014 BRIT Awards, the singer, who has been active since 2008–present, received the award for Best British Female.
Goulding released her third studio album, Delirium, on 6 November 2015, with "On My Mind" as the album's lead single.
Received Grammy Award Nomination
In December 2015, Ellie Goulding received her first Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance for her single "Love Me like You Do".
On 19 August 2016, she released the song "Still Falling For You" as the soundtrack to the film Bridget Jones's Baby. The song was a moderate commercial success worldwide, peaking at number 11 in the UK.
In 2017, Goulding also collaborated with Martin Garrix and David Guetta on their song "So Far Away".
She collaborated on Sean Paul's EP Mad Love the Prequel on a song titled "Bad Love", released on 29 June 2018.
She also collaborated with Diplo and Swae Lee on the single titled "Close to Me", released on 24 October 2018. (*)
