FEMUSINDO.com - AC/DC is a hard rock music group formed in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, in November 1973 by rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and his brother lead guitarist Angus Young.
They then recruited Larry Van Kriedt (bassist), Dave Evans (vocals) and Colin Burgess (drummer). After the formation was assembled, they toured Australia to perform from one place to another.
Because it did not produce results, the Young brothers reshuffled the personnel. Bon Scott replaced Dave Evans, Phill Rudd replaced Colin and Mark Evans replaced Larry.
With the new personnel, they managed to produce, including the first album "High Voltage" (1974) and two other materials, "TNT" (1975) and "Dirt Deeds Done Dirty Cheap" (1976).
Tour to Various Countries
To reach the peak of its popularity, AC/DC held a tour to various countries such as Australia, England and America.
Unfortunately, in early 1977, Mark Evans left AC/DC. His position was replaced by Cliff Williams. With Cliff joining, they released the albums "Let There Be Rock" (1977), "Powerage" (1978) and "Highway to Hell" (1978).
Sad news hit AC/DC because the vocalist Bon Scott was found dead in a car due to being heavily drunk in 1980. They then recruited Brian Johnson to fill the vocalist position.
The album "Back In Black" (1980) was then released as a form of respect for Scott. The album, which contained the sad feelings of the personnel, was a huge success and sold 42 thousand copies. Then they released the album "For Those About To Rock We Salute You" (1981).
AC/DC Loses Members
A short time later, AC/DC had to lose another member. This time the drummer, Phill Rudd, had to leave. His position was then replaced by Simon Wright.
Despite frequent personnel changes, AC/DC was productive in releasing new albums including "Fly On The Wall" (1985), "Who Made Who" (1986) and "Blow Up Your Video" (1988).
Simon did not last long, he then left and was replaced by Chris Slade. In 1994, Slade left and Pill Fraud returned to fill the drummer position.
After that, AC/DC released the albums "Ballbreaker" (1995) and "Stiff Upper Lip" (2000). During the 2000s, AC/DC held various concerts in the country. The concert managed to gather 500 thousand spectators.
After 8 years, AC/DC released another album entitled "Black Ice" (2008). The album consisting of 15 songs managed to win the music charts in various countries.
Recognized Through Compilation Albums
AC/DC's work was increasingly recognized through a compilation album for the soundtrack of the film "Iron Man 2". A series of hits, such as "Shoot to Thrill", "Rock 'n' Roll Damnation", "Guns for Hire" and "T.N.T" were included in the album.
In addition, they also won a number of awards including Best Rock Album and Highest Selling Album at the 2009 ARIA Awards for "Black Ice" and Best Hard Rock Performance at the 2010 Grammy Awards.
This band has sold at least 150 million albums worldwide. Their 1980 album, Back in Black, sold 42 million copies worldwide and 21 million of them in the United States alone.
This band has had two lead singers, and their fans are divided into two between fans of the "Bon Scott era" (1974-80), and the "Brian Johnson era" (1980-present). (*)
