FEMUSINDO.com - Gigi is an Indonesian pop rock music group formed by Dewa Budjana on March 22, 1994.
Initially, this music group consisted of Dewa Budjana as guitarist, Thomas Ramdhan as bassist, Armand Maulana as vocalist, Ronald Fristianto as drummer, and Aria Baron as guitarist.
The name Gigi itself emerged after the personnel laughed when they saw Ronald's front tooth broken. With different musical backgrounds, they combined them into one music that became Gigi's trademark.
A Music Group to be Reckoned With
The song Janji on the album Dunia (1995) successfully launched Gigi onto the Indonesian music industry stage as a group to be reckoned with.
In April 1996, Gigi released its third album entitled 3/4. The album's success with the hit song Oo..Oo..Oo was on par with their second album.
On May 18, 1996, Thomas left Gigi, followed by Ronald. During the making of the 2x2 album, Opet (Thomas' replacement) and Budhy Haryono were pulled into the Gigi band.

Both appeared on the cover of the 2x2 album. In terms of the creation process, it could be said to be the most exclusive album Gigi has ever worked on.
Several world musicians, such as Billy Sheehan, Harry Kim, Arturo Velasco, and Eric Marienthal were involved in it.
33-City Tour for Album Promotion
When Gigi had signed a 33-city tour contract to promote the album Kilas Balik (1998) with A Mild and Sinyal, Opet expressed his desire to leave Gigi.
He agreed to the 33-city tour but stipulated that once the tour ended he would leave and Thomas would replace him.
Budjana and Armand invited Thomas to return to fill the bass playing for Gigi's latest album, Baik (1999).
The entry of Gusti Hendy was an injection of youthful enthusiasm and new ideas into Gigi's music. Armand, Budjana, Thomas, and Hendy are the new Gigi who continue to maintain their role and creative contribution in the Indonesian music scene.
In 2018, Gigi officially held a 25-year reunion tour of Gigi's journey with former personnel Aria Baron and Ronald Fristanto. (*)
