FEMUSINDO.com - Who would have thought that the first rock band in the world came from Indonesia. They are four young people from Maluku who became pioneers of world rock bands.
These four young people with a rock spirit initially formed a rock band in 1945 called The Timor Rhythm Brothers. However, in 1957, they changed their name to The Four Tielman Brothers.
The band's name is The Tielman Brothers because they are the children of Herman Tielman and Flora Laurentine Hess from Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The personnel consisting of Andy Tielman (vocals, guitar), Reggy Tielman (Rhythm guitar, vocals), Phonton Tielman (double bass, vocals), and Loulou Tielman (drummer, vocals) are pioneers of Indonesian rock music, even the world.
Musical Talent and Parental Support
Musical talent was inherited from his father, Herman Tielman, a Dutch KNIL army captain, who often played music with his friends at his home in Surabaya.
Not only did he support his son's musical career, Herman Tielman and his wife Folra Lorine Hass even became managers for their children.

Their first appearance on stage when they performed songs such as Tiger Rag and 12th Street Rag at a party at their house amazed their father's friends.
After that, offers came one after another to perform in various regions in Indonesia. In fact, The Tielman Brothers were once invited by Soekarno to perform in front of him at the State Palace, Jakarta.
Before The Beatles were born in the 1960s, The Tielman Brothers had already performed Rock'n'Roll songs.
The Tielman Brothers are Famous in Europe
Yes, The Tielman Brothers are famous in Europe, long before The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or other bands.
Their recording career began when the Tielman family moved and settled in Breda, Netherlands in 1957.
The Tielman Brothers were the first Dutch-Indonesian band to successfully enter the international scene in the 1950s. At that time, they were one of the pioneers of Rock And Roll in the Netherlands.
Although their music was rock and roll, people in the Netherlands usually called their music Indorock, a blend of Indonesian and Western music.
It can be said that they were the first to start wild and attractive stage attractions, such as playing guitar and double bass while jumping or rolling and of course demo drums. (*)
